Award: $2,000 (usually this amount, non-renewable)

Eligibility Requirements:

Candidate’s parent/guardian must be a resident of Bloomingdale, as defined on the Bloomingdale Neighborhood Association website: www.Bloomingdale.Life

Proof of residency requirement is required before scholarship disbursement.

Candidate’s parent/guardian must be a member of the Bloomingdale Neighborhood Association in good standing. Membership must be current when the submission of an application occurs.

3.2 weighted GPA

Candidate must be accepted at a 2- or 4-year accredited college or university.  Students may apply for a scholarship prior to acceptance, but proof of acceptance will be required before scholarship disbursement.

Children or grandchildren of current Bloomingdale Neighborhood Association Directors are not eligible.

 

Selection Criteria: Recipients will be chosen based on the following selection criteria, listed from most important to least important:

Community Service

Extra-curricular activities

Essay                          

Academics

Letter (s) of Reference

 

Submission must include:

  • A completed application
  • typed essay (no more than 500 words)
  • One letter of reference from a high school faculty member, or, a representative of a Community Service organization listed on the application.  While either is acceptable, the latter is preferable.
  • An official transcript from their high school.
