FAMU BASE Program

The BASE Program is the only engineering program that is administered solely by Florida A&M University (the other engineering programs are part of the FAMU-FSU joint school of engineering). Thus, although students take several courses at the joint “E-school”, they take a majority of their courses in a more intimate setting of the FAMU – BASE facilities. The BASE program, established in 1996, with smaller class sizes allows more one-on-one time with professors, which is especially beneficial in the more rigorous STEM (Science, Technology, engineering, and mathematics) courses. FAMU is an ABET accredited program since 2001 with the good fortune of having nearly 100% of graduates finding well-paying jobs within academia, government, or private industry. FAMU also fully encourages students to pursue a professional engineering (PE) license, of which multiple alumni have already attained. Many of our graduates have subsequently pursued and earned graduate degrees (both Masters and doctorate) with many universities, including University of Penn State University, Cornell University, and Purdue. The program also offers scholarships ranging from $8,000-$16,000.
